Launching of Nairobi Innovation Week, 2016

H.E. Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta has officially opened the Nairobi Innovation Week, 2016. The event , which is in harmony with the Government’s Sector Performance Standards, Kenya’s Vision 2030 and the University’s Strategic Plan (2013 – 2018), seeks brings together a mix of industry players from government, academia, private sector, techpreneurs, innovators, the youth and other stakeholders.

The president applauded all the participants of the event and described the Innovation week as a noble step in developing Kenya’s economy in all perspectives. He further increased capitation for innovation to University of Nairobi by Kshs. 100 million and challenged all the industry players to work in a joint approach.

As a regional leader in the field of Research, Technology and Innovation (RTI), this occasion puts the University of Nairobi at the cutting edge in the process of generation, preservation and dissemination of research related knowledge globally. 

Nairobi Innovation Week is conducted in a series of events including public lectures, breakfast meetings and debates, among other activities, that run for one week during which students, techpreneurs and innovators from public and private industry get an opportunity to intermingle. It also offers an opening for employment to the Youth.
