The University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor, Prof Peter Mbithi, visited the College Of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences (CAVS). In his working tour, the Vice Chancellor met the College Academic Board (CAB) members and together, they had fruitful discussions on methods of reinvigorating the students and staff members’ welfare and development.
Members proposed ideas that were afterwards incorporated in the student and staff members’ academic welfare plan to further enrich their experiential learning, transformational community outreach activities, and research skills that address the needs of a sustainable local populace.  They brainstormed on the best ideas of securing research patents, industrial collaborations and development of sustainable income generation activities that will be of mutual benefit to both the researchers, students and cater for the expenses incurred in operational costs within the College. For example, building a supermarket for agricultural products that will expose the students to experiential learning of complete agriculture and food production value chain.
Further, senior researchers and lecturers were encouraged to mentor their students and junior faculty members and develop more proposals that will aid in creating more centres of excellence within the University.
