Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environment Studies has had a long partnership with the Green Belt Movement. Today’s event was to strengthen this collaboration and was marked by planting 44 indigenous trees at the walk way of the Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environment Studies which is currently under construction.

The trees signified Kenya’s 44 tribes and the main theme of this event is for all communities to harmoniously live in peace. The event was presided over by Prof.Kiama Gitahi, Principal, College of Agriculture and Veterinary Science (CAVS), Prof. M.Mutembei, Director, Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environment Studies and Mercy Wanja Karunditu ( Green Belt Movement Interim Director- Programmes)
