Prof. Njoroge (Center), the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration and Finance, University of Nairobi
The competitive recruitment process of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration and Finance, University of Nairobi, is now complete.
Today, April 30, 2015, the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Jacob T. Kaimenyi appointed Prof. Bernard N.K. Njoroge as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration and Finance.
The five year appointment is in accordance with section 35 (I) (V) of the Universities Act, 2012.
The appointment follows a rigorous search and interviews conducted on February 24, 2015, by the University of Nairobi Council, following which Council made a recommendation to the Government. I would like to thank the Government for making this important appointment at the University of Nairobi.
Before this appointment, Prof. Njoroge was the Principal, College of Architecture and Engineering, a position he has held since January 2009. A professor of Civil Engineering, Prof. Njoroge previously served as Dean, School of Engineering and Chairman, Department of Civil and Construction Engineering.
Prof. Njoroge was awarded a PhD in Civil Engineering at Duke University, USA. He is also a holder of a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (First Class Honours) from the University of Nairobi.
Prof. Njoroge has extensive experience in teaching and supervision of students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has also attended numerous local and international academic seminars and conferences. He is a member of several professional societies.
