Prof. Nzioka J. Muthama, Deputy Director, WMI participating in the workshop

 The workshop brought together scientists, experts and relevant stakeholders from the Civil society, policymaking, academia, and implementing communities to discuss various critical and emerging issues pertaining to climate change and conflicts in the Horn of Africa . The main goal of the workshop was to interrogate how conflicts and migration in the horn of Africa are induced by climate change and to develop adequate measures for conflict prevention and regulation. Prof. Muthama made a key note presentation titled “Migration, Mobility, Conflict and Security in the Context of Climate Nexus.”

The Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies appreciates the immense support from the entire University fraternity. Early this morning, November 12, 2018, the University of Nairobi Council Housing Committee, led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. P. M. F. Mbithi, toured the Campus to assess its status of completion. The construction of the Campus is majorly completed, awaiting the furniture to enable occupation and operationalization of the facilities.  Receiving the team was Prof. S.G. Kiama, Principal, College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences and Prof. Henry M. Mutembei, Director, Wangari Maathai Institute.
