In a networked society, partnerships are increasingly important to create a critical mass, synergies and stretch scarce resources. Without key partners WMI cannot fulfill its ambitious vision. The Institute therefore, continues to forge potential partnerships both locally and globally to enable it achieve planned results and targets and to leverage resources. On December 11, 2017, WMI was honoured to host AfDB and discuss potential partnership in the Joint Japan Africa Scholarship (JJAS) Program - capacity building in energy sector through skills development for sustainable development. “This is an initiative by the AfDB and Japan that aims at providing two-year scholarship awards to highly achieving African graduate students to enable them to undergo post-graduate studies in priority development areas on the continent and abroad including in Japan,” said Prof. Mutisya. He added that JAS program is funded by the Government of Japan and it seeks to enhance skills and human resources development in Africa in a number of priority areas pertaining to science and technology with a special focus on the energy sector.
