will be selling various categories of livestock at Machanga Field Station,
Embu between 29th September 2016 and 2nd October 2016.

Among the livestock to be sold include goats and cattle.

Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies holds a meeting with the local Launch and Grow program lead experts and briefs them about the program. Launch and Grow is women’s entrepreneurs’ mentorship program whose second phase is scheduled to be implemented by the institute in collaboration with Fundacion Mujeres Por Africa (FMxA). It consists of a mentorship process on three thematic areas including finance, growth and corporate governance organized for the 14 women entrepreneurs’ beneficiaries of the project that will be delivered via webinar sessions and local workshops.

Dr. Stephen Mureithi, a lecturer and researcher at the Department of Land Resources Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT), University of Nairobi (UoN) and Prof. Pascal Boeckx of Ghent University, Belgium led over 20 stakeholders in a just concluded inception workshop on “Improved management for nitrate pollution in the Lake Victoria catchment of Kenya". The workshop was officially opened Prof. G. Kironchi, Chairman, and LARMAT and took place on 24th and 25th January 2017 at Kisumu hotel, Kisumu. In his remarks he highlighted that, “We should focus in enriching the resources available and involvement of more stakeholders through sustainable projects”.

This VLIR-UOS project hosted in the department of LARMAT and its goal is on “Capacity building in application of state of the art isotopic techniques for nitrate pollution sources apportionment in the Lake Catchment coupled to policy and decision support tools for improved nitrate pollution management"
