will be selling various categories of livestock at Machanga Field Station,
Embu between 29th September 2016 and 2nd October 2016.

Among the livestock to be sold include goats and cattle.

The Field Station  produces various crops e.g spinach using drip irrigation system.  The system eliminates water runoff and less evaporation from soil which conserves & reduces water usage leading to higher gross margin.

The Director of the Global Development Hub at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Dr. Jesper Vasell,  met with Prof. Henry Mutembei, Director WMI,  together with Cecilia Sundberg, PhD Associate Professor in Industrial Ecology and Environmental Management, KTH-Royal Institute of Technology, Mary Njenga PhD, Research Scientists World Agro-forestry Center and Visiting Lecturer WMI and Dr. Jane Mutune Lecturer WMI, to discuss potential areas of collaboration; on a student exchange program driven education research involving post graduate students at the University of Nairobi and Royal Institute of Technology.

Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies hosted a seminar by Dr. Grace Mwaura. She delivered an insightful seminar to WMI’s postgraduate students on, “Governing the Youth-Environment-Development Nexus in Kenya: Findings from Youth Livelihoods Study.” The seminar was held on September 27, 2017 at the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, in the Small Pathology Lecture Theatre.
