Embu between 29th September 2016 and 2nd October 2016.

Claudia Ituarte-Lima delivering a seminar at the Wangari Maathai Institute

Claudia Ituarte-Lima, a researcher on international environmental law at Stockholm Resilience Centre delivered a seminar on connecting peace and ecosystems: a legal and governance perspective while giving an insight on why the ecosystems and peace are intertwined.  It is undeniable that environmental degradation results to poverty while most conflicts arise as a result of scarce resources. Well conserved and governed resources play critical role in reducing conflicts. This thrilling seminar was held on May 24, 2017 at the Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies, College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences, Upper Kabete Campus.

The third year students who are pursuing Environmental Health program were briefly exposed to the walks and works of Prof. Wangari Maathai by Dr. Jane M. Mutune, Lecturer at the Wangari Maathai Institute and how the Institute is overseeing the continuation of the same.
