The University of Nairobi, College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences
will be selling various categories of livestock at Kibwezi Field Station,
between Monday 22nd May 2019 and Friday 24th May 2019. Among the livestock to be sold include goats and cattle. For more information, contact Mr. Isaac Nyang'au (0721538318)

FND Four students are be expected to conduct a research in an area relevant to Human Nutrition and write a report for presentation in a seminar. This was taken during the seminars  academic year 2018/2019.

Mr. Ferdinand Waititu, Governor, Kiambu County plants a tree during the commemoration of World Environment Day at the Wangari Maathai Institute assisted by Mr. Erick Ndung’u, Member of County Assembly, Uthiru ward . The Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies, University of Nairobi was honoured to host the World Environment day in partnership with Kiambu County Government, Kenya Association of Manufacturer’s, UN environment, Eden Stewards among other partners. The event dubbed “Keep Ndumbuini Clean, Keep Me Healthy” was held on June 5, 2019 at the Wangari Maathai Green Campus after being flagged off at Uthiru Polytechnic. The aim of the event was to promote a cleaner, healthier and Sustainable Ndumbuini by mobilizing residents to collect solid waste for safe disposal, offering free diagnostic and curative healthcare services, promoting legal and environmental awareness, offering free veterinary services, tree growing and team building through soccer matches.

The activities brought together a wide range of participants including students (University, secondary and primary schools), the county government, entrepreneurs, community organizations and youth groups.

The event was graced by Mr. Ferdinard Waititu, Governor, Kiambu County, Mr. Lameck Nyamai, Executive Committee member for Environment and Forestry – Kiambu County, Mr. Erick Ndung’u, member of county assembly – Uthiru ward, the CEO Kenya Association of Manufacturers represented by Mr. Job Wanjohi, Prof. Henry Mutembei, Director, Wangari Maathai Institute, Prof. Nzioka N. Muthama, Wangari Maathai Institute among others.

Prof. Henry Mutembei, Director, WMI and Prof. Nzioka J. Muthama lead other partners in a planning committee meeting held on June 3, 2019 at the WMI Green Campus

WMI played host to the last planning committee meeting on June 3, 2019 in preparation for the World Environment Day on June 5, 2019. The meeting brought together partners and stakeholders from different sectors. Those represented include the County Government of Kiambu, Kenya Association of Manufacturers, Eden’s Stewards, Amref Health Africa, Go Green, One Stone Youth Group, Amani Clubs, the Ministry of Environment, One Health Club, Wildlife Students Association, Where is Love Kenya and KEWA Scout Association. Representing WMI were Prof. Henry Mutembei, Director, WMI, Prof. Nzioka J. Muthama, Deputy Director, WMI, staff and students. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the way forward regarding various activities and events scheduled for the World Environment Day to be held at the WMI green campus.
